7 days of Christmas looks

Here are 7 casual Christmas looks that are festive but not super dressy.  Most of them aren't that blatently Christmasy (for those who don't want to look like Santa's lil helper) They're great looks for everyday occasions (work, daytime holdiay parties...) of holiday spirit!

The first day of Christmas:  Excuse my looks I took a quick nap and was still half sleep while taking these pics.  I was wearing a green and white striped sweater tucked into red skinny jeans, black combat boots with a shimmery gray toe (from Merry Black Friday/Cyber Week to me: my haul), and a singing Christmas tie (worn as a belt) that I got a few years ago from the Dollar Tree.  Last minute I decided to throw on a chunky knit black and red cardigan for extra warmth.  Both tops are Rue 21, pants are dwdshoes.

The second day of Christmas:  I am even more sleepy and it is noticeable, but I LOVE this outfit because it feels like I belong in the North Pole with Santa drinking hot coco at his house.  I have on a red turtleneck under a bright green 3/4 length sweater with  a bow through metal grommets (both tops are old, possibly from burlington coat factory).  Red flats from 6pm, and my favorite part are the pants!  I recently went searching on ebay for wool pants (since they're so expensive at stores) and found these from someone for around $20.  You can't tell but the smaller vertical stripes are the green color of the sweater.  I truly hadn't even noticed this part until I put the outfit on, I thought they were simply black and white plaid.

The third day of Christmas:  Comfy cozy subtle holiday!  Simple outfit of old whoknowswhereIgotthem pieces.  Black stirrup leggings and light weight purple hoodie.  Pink glitter combat boots (from Merry Black Friday/Cyber Week to me: my haul) and cutest cardigan ever!  From macy's clearance $5!  I mean it has reindeer on it, what more could you ask for in a cardi?

The fourth day of Christmas: Work Christmas party outfit!  I decided to tolerate cold arms in order to wear this super cute peplum top from either lulus or modcloth.  Red tank underneath, black jeggings, black socks with gold thread interwoven, and green flats (again from Merry Black Friday/Cyber Week to me: my haul)

Cute accessories went with this outfit.  Headband, ring, and bracelets are from Rue 21.  Peace necklace from idkw (i don't know where), jingle bells earrings from burlington.

The fifth day of Christmas:  I call this goth with a pop of Christmas.  Black leggings, black hooded sweater, and Christmasy argyle socks (Macy's) with shiny gold loafers (shoedazzle or justfab) and red slouchy hat (I made it myself).

The sixth day of Christmas:  Recreated look because I forgot to take a pic wearing it.  Jeggings, burgundy with lighter patterned chevrons, from Kohls, Black cowl neck sweater from Macys, yellow flats with gold studs from shoedazzle.  I also took a piece of burgundy ribbon, double wrapped it around my head and tied it into a little side bow headband (like below).

The seventh day of Christmas:  It's Christmas Morgan!!  Her outfit was soo cute that I had to add her to the post.  She wore a burgundy cardigan sweater with a olive green shirt underneath, white/off white mini skirt, black boots and super cute plaid tights (black, white, and red)!  She also has on a cute necklace (she made it herself!)

Merry Black Friday/Cyber Week to me: my haul

Well since a whole 1.5 person was interested in what was in these boxes that were delivered to me yesterday,

I decided to do a haul post of my black Friday/cyber week purchases 8-D

First store I purchased from was my favorite, ModCloth!!!!!  They had this awes-tacular sale of 50% off their new items which is crazy weird to me since usually people put clearance on an extra discount, not the new items, but I'm not complaining!  I got these two lovely dresses made with a thick cotton material, one's orange plaid, one's brown with white horsies on it!

I call these desperate housewive's dresses or suzie homemaker dresses.   I'm not like that at all but they are my favorite type of dresses, and half off they were only $30 a piece.  Both came with that cute thin brown belt that has a couple gold charms on the buckle.

I also got these two cute dresses.  They were both under $20.

The red, blue, gray, and black stripey right angle one is high low, slightly longer hem in back than in the front.  The blue and pink floral dress has a ruffle trim along the bust line (see pic below).

I got these two blouses because I need more blousey shirts with sleeves.  These were also both under $20.

The yellow one has navy and white apples on it, it's 3/4 sleeve and the collar ties like a scarf.  The other one is peplum!  I love peplum!  A short sleeve peplum top that is denim blue with silver sparkly thread (i guess) mixed in the fabric.  The back completely unzips.

While taking the picture of the two blouses I noticed that they would probably look cute layered together, so I tried it (pic below) and they did! Bonus! The shirts look cute separate and layered together, yay!  The peplum shirt acts as vest for the yellow shirt, and has the perfect level of scoop neck to display the yellow shirt's tie neck.  I love unexpected cuteness!

I also 2 pairs of shoes from ModCloth.  Green suede flats that remind me of Christmas, and kooky cute kitty cat pumps.  The flats (under $20) are evergreen colored with a gold scrunchy bow detail in front.  The cat pumps (under $30) have a black cat face at the toe, and the rest of the shoe is tan with white dots.

Next I got stuff from Shoe Dazzle, who also had a hot sale of up to 60% off!  So I got the 6 flats below.  You'll notice they all have some type of metallic detailing (super cute).  The purple flats on the left have a black studded t-strap, the red and black flats have gold plates on the toe, the yellow has gold spikes at the toe, the gold loafers have gold studs all over, and the denim loafers have grayish black studs all over.  They were all 60% off, so $16 each.

I also got 5 sets of the cute closet organizers (which is why I had 3 shoe dazzle boxes) shown in my previous post, Black friday/Cyber monday. I'll make a post of those again when I have organized them in my closet (which I should be able to do during Christmas break).

Last, I thought I'd throw in the boots I got from Delias' sale, I got 40% off these boots.  I talked more about the sale in my previous post,  Fall boot HAUL!!! They have arrived!  Black with gray/silver toe, silver canvas with cargo pocket, and pink glitter combat boots.  And a mauve mini wedge, with mauve glitter on the wedge.  The boots were all in the $30s and the mini wedges were under $20.

I also got some shoes from Asos, who had an extra 30% off sale for cyber week, but I'm not going to show you those yet, they will be apart of my upcoming blog post on my new favorite thing...flatforms!  So check back for that!

So yea, that's my black friday/cyber week haul post.  Let me know what yall (yinz) think :-)

Indian Summer OOTD (Outfit Of The Day)

Since it's getting up near 70 degrees on this day in December, I thought I may be able to wear a summer dress outfit without tons of layer and not be too cold.  I wore my forever 21 orange tank dress with my brown tweed pinstripey 3/4 length jacket.  The orange dress brings out the orange tones in the jacket nicely. Not to be too exposed and since it is supposed to rain, I wore sweater knit beige thigh high socks (dots) with brown combat boots (go jane).

Close up on the accessories of the day:

Gold heart stud, love earring, gold flower scrunchie, and 1 extra long chin (sheesh)

gold heart stud, love earring

gold flower scruchie

Coincidentally, all of my accessories came from eBay!!!!  The gold flower scrunchie has glitter and matching feathers, it also has a pin attached so you can wear it as a broach if you want.  I got like 6 different colors during the summer, they cost no more than $3 (shipped) a piece.  The tiny heart studs are real gold, got them a few years ago.  My most recent purchase is the love earring, they arrived yesterday in the mail.  They are a stud with the love in back (put the heart stud through your ear first then the love plate then regular earring back).  These love earrings are super cute and unique, and wait for it...only $1!!!!!!!!!!  How they were described on ebay is that you get 1 piece for $1, so I bought 2 because I have to ears, and I can afford to spend $2 instead of $1 on cute earrings, but when they arrived, I had two sets of 2 earrings (which makes sense but that's not how it seemed in the description) so pleasant discovery for me!  Oh and my ring (sorry no close up, only in the full outfit photos) is actually from eBay also (I'm sensing a pattern), it's an oversized marbley marquise ring in shades brown and white and black.  Was under $5, got a few different colors and shapes of these marbley type rings also.

Hooray for this nice indian summer day!!!

Fall boot HAUL!!!

Bought some boots from Delias for the fall/winter.  I'm more into combat type boots now after having so many problems with regular super flat boots.  The heel of the actual shoe (not the sole) somehow always get scrapped up even though I know I don't walk on that part of my heel.  So although they're always cheap, I have started to avoid them unless I want a specific color like these

Product Image

that I got from amiclubwear (i think) for twenty something dollars plus and extra off coupon.  I haven't seen these on the site lately but they do have a 45% off coupon code pinkfri45

Actually though, those fushia boots that I got have a pretty stable looking rubber heel so I might have lucked out, I haven't wore them yet so I guess I'll soon find out.  But the bad soles are the ones like these

from another of my favorite stores urbanog, they're $30.20 and urbanog has a 20% off the store code gl2012 in addition!  They seem to have a slightly raised heel in back but you still end up with scratched up heels!  But I'd buy these anyways simply for the color or the cute thigh highness that can scrunch down to below the knees.  I actually have these in black and in tan.

But yea I want to up my combat type boot collection or just boots with a chunky soles now.  They are more expensive than thin flat soled boots but they will last longer, and be more stable in the rain/snow.  So Delias had a 20% off code, or spend $100 get 25% off or spend $150 get 30% off your total, sale a month ago and I got:

  • Big Buddha Amber Boot in leopard- http://store.delias.com/product/big+buddha+amber+boot+305077.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=fn
  • Cora Boot in brown & chestnut- http://store.delias.com/product/cora+boot+305747.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=fn
Cora Boot in chestnut & brown

Big Buddha Amber Boot in leopard

Actually they currently have an even better sale and I check and all of the shoes are still available.  The code BESTIES at Delias now is 20% off, or spend $100 get 30% off or spend $150 get 40% off your total!  I'm tempted to buy a few more boots that are currently $60 (out of my price range) but will be only $36 at 40% off.

In the time it took for me to finish this blog post, I got:

  • Roxy Ponderosa Boot in silver- http://store.delias.com/product/roxy+ponderosa+boot+305084.do
  • Farrah Boot in pink- http://store.delias.com/product/farrah+boot+306581.do
  • Report Chandler Boot in black- http://store.delias.com/product/report+chandler+boot+306572.do
And with these new purchases, plus the ones I got last year, my combat boot collection is looking pretty nice :-)

President has been Decided

Before I discuss the outfit, let me explain my poses.  I was jamming to Taylor Swift - Mean, so I was caught dancing in some of the pictures.

Layers was a huge component of this outfit.  The star of the outfit was my Peace, Love, Obama t shirt, I got it after the last election in 2008 from Rue21 $10.  So I had to put an outfit together around this shirt, while the election news was still a hot topic.

As I said in my previous post, I've been trying to create ways to wear a t shirt other than with sweat pants or jeans.  The day before wearing this outfit I stopped into Rue21 and one of the items that I found was a cute, strapless, fitted, corset type dress for $6!  It just so happened to go well with the t shirt, color-wise, because they're both pastel colors.  The pink in the tee goes with the multi shades of pink in the dress  (only the skirt part shows because of the layering).  So I knew that I had to try wearing this outfit with shirts layered on top of this dress.  For warmth I wore a long sleeved thermal shirt in a dark teal green color that complimented both the tee and the skirt (rainbow $3 clearance).  I added purple-magenta colored tights that matched some of the colors in the dress, and flat beige ankle boots with side straps (actually also a Rue21 purchase from about 1 year ago).  My pink ribbon and pearls bracelets (3 stacked) were from Kohls, in support of breast cancer awareness.

All in all, this was a fun outfit that showed support from our newly reelected president.

Peace, Love, Obama!

Vote for me! My Election outfits

Election Eve

So I bought these 2 t shirts a while ago on https://store.barackobama.com/sale.html for $20-30 each minus a 25% discount (they seem to be sold out now) and wanted to try something other than just wearing them with jeans or sweatpants (which is what I usually think to do with t shirts).

For election day eve:    I wore the black and white Obama shirt.  Underneath that I wore a black and white striped 3/4 sleeve stretch button up, I chose this shirt to 1. dress up the top, 2. because the colors matched and are neutral, and 3.  because it is cold so I wanted warmth.  I got this top from burlington coat factory x years ago on clearance.  I tucked the shirts into a sheer burgundy maxi skirt that cost under $10 on ebay (I'll make a post about it soon).  I added a thick elastic black belt that was $3 on clearance at rue 21 (wore on my low waist) and flat gray ankle boots that have a basket weave side strap from my lady boutique $5 clearance.

Super different outfit, I put these pieces together because I've been seeing some people in magazines and ads wearing skirts with baggy and not dressy shirts and sweaters and thought I should make my version of the look.  I often like to wear a loose fitted item with a tighter fitted item.  So since the t shirt is fairly loose fitted as well as the skirt being loose and flowy, I wanted to tuck in the t shirt in and belt it

Election day:     I wore an over sized white t shirt with blue Obama text on the bottom half only.  This inspired me to search for a cropped blue blazer to 1. make the tee look more professional but fall short so that the text would still show at the bottom, and 2. cinch in my waste for a fitted look that the t shirt did not possess alone. I found exactly what I was looking for (3/4 length sleeves) on clearance at forever 21 online, $13! I wore gray skinny jeans with lighter gray hearts on them from kohls which were $27 on sale plus 30% off, they're actually still available here https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1143120/so-heart-skinny-jeans.jsp I chose skinny jeans because again, I like to pair baggy with fitted, so the t shirt is very loose therefore I want to wear fitted bottoms, and I think that a neutral colored bottom is good since the tops are pretty colorful, but the hearts on the pants make the neutral more interesting than a solid calm color, yet still manages to be pretty calm being two similar shades of gray with minimal contrast (as apposed to drastic contrast of black and white or purple and yellow)From Lulus I wore red multi colored loafer flats, $19 and still here http://www.lulus.com/products/yoki-chester-fuchsia-multi-smoking-slipper-flats/47427.html and red jewelry to go full on patriotic.  You can't really tell in the pic but I also have on 3 elastic headbands in what colors but red white and blue, from family dollar ($1 for like a 5 piece set of headbands =D).

U.S.A. U.S.A. (are the cheers I'm hearing in my head as I wear this outfit hahaha).

*A similar look could be put together with Romney t shirts also, or any other type of t shirt you may have.

These looks sort of pair lazy casual with business casual.  Let me know your thoughts about my election time outfits! :-)

As you can tell,
clearance + coupons = my kinda fashion
